Classes and Court Hire

We offer a vast range of fitness classes including cardio activities, strength activities as well as more gentle well-being activities. Or if you fancy a game of squash or badminton we have courts for hire.

Fitness Classes & Court Hire

We offer a huge variety of classes which are available to book online.  Register for Online Bookings to make the most of your membership, you can check availability and pre-book your class or badminton and squash court up to 7 days in advance.

We want our classes to be full so don't forget to check in for your activity at the kiosk or reception when you arrive - this ensures your place is accounted for as our timetables are bases on classes which are popular!

Don't forget to bring with you...

* Your Active Card - to check in, get through the turnstiles and access the fitness changing rooms
* A towel - to lie on in your class or wipe down gym equipment after use
* A drink - it's important to stay hydrated! (water fountains are currently unavailable but there are vending machines available)


We understand that there are times when you cannot attend your session, just remember to let us know to allow someone else to attend in your place. If you fail to attend your booking there will be a £3 charge on your account. 

Our timetables are based on activities which are popular so please remember to check in for your activity to ensure your place is accounted for. We like to see our classes and court sessions full

Active Balance

Active Balance is a dynamic Yoga-based stretching programme that leaves you feeling relaxed and renewed. It combines the fundamental principles and practices of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi such as controlled breathing, concentration, flexibility and strength training to create a holistic workout that brings the body, mind and soul into a state of balance and harmony.

A session to look after your heart, aimed at people who may have had cardiac problems. Usually fitness suite instructor referral.

Active HIITs

High intensity interval training designed to make you sweat and burn large amounts of calories in a short space on time. This can be gym based or in any of our state of the art studios.

Active Hydropole

A dynamic fully functional wet workout with a few flairs of the dance element. Increase your core strength, reduce cellulite and most importantly you have lots of fun!

Active Hydrofighter

If you're looking for an aquatic fitness concept that really packs a punch then hydrofighter could be the fitness concept for you. Designed to adapt land based mixed martial arts and boxing exercises, drills and routines, this high intensity cardiovascular style of training really gets the heart pumping.

Active Hula

Trim your tummy, hips and thighs with this high energy cardio workout to music fitness session with the hula hoop.

Active Kettles

Kettlebells are very effective at toning the body, particularly the legs, bum, hips and stomach. You will see a noticeable improvement in your body shape and tone as well as your fitness levels within a few sessions.

Active Kick Box

An easy way to lose weight, burn calories and get stronger. Knock out boredom and blast fat with these exercise moves.

Active Legs, Bums and Tums

Targeting the 'problem' areas, this class will focus on exercises to shape and tone while improving strength, endurance and fitness.

Will contain some lower impact style aerobics and maybe weights.

Active Lower body training

A low impact class that concentrates on those problem areas using body weight exercise.

Active Metafit

It is a style oh HIIT and is designed to boost your fitness, rocket your energy levels and get masive results in the shortest amount of time possible. It gets results because it creates metabolic disturbance, increases your resting metabolic rate which increases fat burning in a shorter 30 min class, get better results in less time!

Active Pilates

Aimed at strengthening the abdominals and back, enhancing muscle tone and posture.

Active Pump

Fantastic all round resistance exercise. Challenges and strengthens all major muscles using barbells, weights and step boxes.

Active Seated Exercise

These classes are fun, easy to follow and gentler on the body for those not wanting to leap around!

Seated Exercise targets the upper and lower body with a variety of equipment and exercises that can be done seated or using a chair for support. It will help with posture and strength while promoting controlled and correct training techniques.

Active Strength and Balance (Otago)

Designed to reduce the chance of falls in older individuals. These sessions are proving a great success with members benefitting from the gentle exercises aimed at improving their balance, strength and co-ordination. It involves a mixture of both seated and standing exercises and available to anyone over the age of 55 who feels they could benefit from gentle activity. 

Active Suspension Training

Suspension trainers allow you to perform natural movements and exercises to build strength, lose weight and tone up. It's a scalable form of exercise that's suitable for people of all abilities and can be used to develop elite fitness.

Suspension trainers are essentially length adjustable straps which allow you to harness your body weight against gravity and carry out exercises in a suspended state.

Active Synrgy with Kettles/Boxing/Cycle

Synergy combines several popular total-body workouts and dynamic exercises for individual groups. The workout is high motivational encompassing multiple muscle groups in short spaces of time.

Virtual Workouts

We offer a variety of workouts led by virtual instructors on large screens. Check the timetable for group classes.

Fun and flexible, this state of the art system also allows you to access virtual workouts outside of the timetable so you never have to miss a class again!
